How to choose the right DTF film?
In the vast world of printing, choosing the right DTF film can make the difference between a professional result and a mediocre one. But how do you choose the perfect DTF film? Considering the quality offerings Burger-print offers, understanding the details is essential to making a wise purchase.
In the meantime, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that you can find all DTF consumables at exceptional prices and quality (let me just say that we have 200-meter rolls so you reduce changes by 50%):
Difference between hot peel and cold peel film
Distinguishing between hot peel and cold peel is the first step:
- Hot peel or hot peel: This type of film allows you to peel the film immediately after pressing, while the print is still hot. This allows for unparalleled work speed. However, if the film quality is poor, it's easy to ruin the print. I'll tell you a secret… be careful because 95% of the hot peel films on the market are truly awful. If the supplier tells you to wait a few seconds after pressing, well, they probably know they haven't sold you a great product.
- Cold peel : With this type of film, it's essential to wait for the print to cool before peeling it off. Processing is slower, and if the film is of poor quality, it becomes more difficult to detect during processing… unfortunately, the end customer will only notice it after the first wash at home.
At Burger-print, we only sell "hot peel" transfers. Since we're a production company, this is the natural choice for those who need to print large numbers of DTF transfers. Furthermore, because the film we use is of high quality, the peel is perfect and smooth from the very first moment after pressing. Don't believe us? Try a roll of our DTF film and let us know what you think.
Difference between single-sided matte and double-sided matte film
DTF film processing can vary and affect both cost and ease of use:
- Single mat , coated on one side only: A more economical version that only receives treatment on one side of the film. It is perfect for more modern DTF machines (at least 4 gripper rollers). However, our experience as users teaches us that this type remains the most stable during pressing; in fact, the film always remains well adhered to the support even when reopening the press, avoiding inconveniences.
- Double-sided matt , the treatment is present on both sides of the film: Suitable for older DTF machines (fewer than 4 gripper rollers) or for those who print DTF in sheets, it tends to be more expensive but offers greater grip during the printing phase. The downside is the tendency to remain stuck to the press head when reopening.
In summary, you will never find a great DTF user who prefers double-sided matt to single-sided. A word to the wise ?
How to determine the quality of a DTF film?
Quality is a priority for us at Burger-print. Here are some things to consider when evaluating the films you purchase:
- Ease of removal: Films, whether hot peel or cold peel, must come off easily.
- Low electrostaticity: The film must not retain excess glue in the unprinted portions.
- Temperature resistance: Essential to avoid problems or blockages during the oven curing of the DTF glue.
If you're not satisfied with the films you're currently using and are looking for a quality product, we recommend visiting our online shop to purchase your DTF rolls . And remember, we're the first users of our DTF consumables; we don't compromise on quality.
PET or paper DTF film?
The film material also plays an important role.
- PET (polyethylene terephthalate): Less environmentally friendly, but offers greater stability and fewer post-printing problems.
- Paper : More eco-friendly, but less stable after printing.
Paper film has only recently been released on the market. We decided to test it thoroughly and believe it's currently unable to compete with PET. We hope that manufacturers will improve it in the future to offer a more eco-friendly solution for your DTF transfers.
Special DTF films
Special effects films like gold, silver, and glitter exist. While they're fascinating products, they're still in their early stages of development on the market. To put it simply, our tests have been unsatisfactory. We encourage our customers to stay tuned to Burger-print for future updates on these products.
