Screen-printed T-shirts online: mission possible?

What you need to know about screen-printed shirts online.

Among the most used techniques for printing low-cost custom t-shirts is screen printing, also known as silkscreen printing.

This is an excellent method for printing graphics on T-shirts using thick inks. These inks aren't absorbed by the T-shirt, but rather, they adhere to the fabric, sticking together and holding up well to repeated washing.

At Burger-print.nl, we offer both screen printing and direct digital printing (DTG) for your T-shirts, as well as other garments such as polo shirts, affordable personalized sweatshirts, etc.

You can place your order directly online and have it delivered to your home or business within a few days! Both of the printing techniques we've mentioned have their advantages, but in some cases, screen printing is better than DTG.

When to choose screen printing for custom jerseys?

You should know that direct digital printing can only be done on 100% cotton clothing (organic or otherwise) or on cotton-blend fabrics with a predominance of this material.

Direct digital printing, on the other hand, is perfect for any type of fabric, whether natural or synthetic. For example, if you need screen-printed jerseys for a sporting event, you'll definitely choose polyester. And screen printing is also ideal for this plastic fiber fabric!

Screen printing uses thicker inks than direct digital printing, and is less expensive (unless you choose a design with too many different colors).

Screen printing uses a single screen for each color. This makes it the ideal technique if you need to customize numerous identical T-shirts in series.

For the same reason, it is a bit expensive and therefore unsuitable for graphics with many colors: in our case the limit is 6.

Despite this, it is also perfect for elaborate graphics (as you can see in our examples by clicking here: https://www.burger-print.nl/en).

Let's take a closer look at this technique…

How does screen-printed jersey printing work?

You're probably wondering how to screen print a T-shirt. Writing it down isn't exactly easy, but we'll try our best.

A screen (stencil) is used for each color to be printed. The screens must be aligned and printed on test sheets to ensure that all the colors are aligned correctly.

The inks are then pushed through the screens one color at a time onto the garment. Finally, each piece is passed through a large dryer, a kind of oven, so that the inks solidify and become resistant to both hand and machine washing.

Screen printing has very few limitations when it comes to print surfaces. Here are some examples of what we can screen print:

  • T-shirts of any fabric
  • Cheap personalized shopping bags, in any material
  • Bags
  • Jackets
  • Mouse pads
  • Caps
  • Pole

And so much more!

We generally don't print on sweaters, as the resulting fabric is very airy and less compact than cotton, polyester, viscose, etc. The final result, therefore, would not be satisfactory.

What is the final effect of screen-printed shirts?

Unlike DTG printing, screen printing is done entirely by hand. This technique is ideal for graphics with just a few colors (in our case, a maximum of 6) and/or for large orders that require the same graphic to be printed on multiple items.

But how do you recognize a screen-printed t-shirt?

Simply run your hand over the print. If you touch the ink with the palm of your hand, you'll feel it raised and quite soft (almost rubbery).

The result is therefore very pleasant both to the eye and to the touch: you will see that you will be extremely satisfied with your screen-printed shirts online at Burger-print.nl!

Can't wait to order your t-shirts?
