FAQs - File Preparation - Screen Printing

1. Accepted file formats - Screen printing

The following files are accepted for screen printing:

  • PDF
  • EPS
  • TO THE
  • PSD
  • PNG
  • JPG

PDF
PDF is one of the best formats for sending your files. In fact, this format is able to maintain all the vector properties (if created with suitable programs) of the file, thus guaranteeing the highest possible quality.

EPS, AI
These formats are ideal if the file needs to be resized. However, it's necessary to convert any open paths, such as text and the like, into closed paths before saving. Failure to do so may result in problems when printing.

PSD
Again, it's necessary to convert any open paths, such as text and the like, into closed paths before saving. It's also best to leave the layers separate, with one color per layer. Without this necessary step, printing problems may occur.

PNG
This format is ideal if you need to manage transparencies; unlike JPG, it can save transparencies. This format can only be exported in RGB, so we will automatically convert it to the production color profile upon receipt. We strongly recommend creating this type of file with a transparent background to eliminate any possibility of errors during file reproduction.

JPG
This file must be sent in high quality, it is not the best format for screen printing but it can be used for simple single-color files or in other limited cases.

2. Dimensions - Screen printing

We recommend submitting files at a 1:1 scale. A mock-up will be provided by positioning the received files according to specifications based on the actual file size, unless otherwise requested. Please fill in the notes field when uploading, indicating any preferences. The print dimensions can then be verified by the user during the mock-up phase and revised if necessary.

3. Resolution and quality - Screen printing

Optimal resolution: 300dpi
Minimum resolution: 150dpi
Color profile: CMYK - coated fog 27

File quality
Regardless of format, only high-resolution files are accepted. Therefore, please ensure you submit the files according to specifications to avoid delays on your order. The draft will include an indicative technical evaluation for each file, allowing the user to evaluate any necessary interventions in the most critical cases.

Color profile
  • All RGB files will be converted to the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile
  • All CMYK files will be converted to the coated fogra 27 color profile.
We invite you to use these color profiles directly to limit chromatic variations compared to the final result.

4. Pantone references

Specific colors can be created upon customer request. Any PANTONE references must be specified when ordering.

Burger-print.nl/en never saves the color references of past work, it is therefore necessary to provide the desired PANTONE references with each order in order to ensure continuity in supplies.

This process is highly recommended if you need to restock products over time. Contact our support team for more details.

What happens if I don't provide any PANTONE reference?

No problem, our system automatically assigns the most similar color profile to achieve the closest possible match to the print proofs. However, this does not guarantee consistency over time.

5. Transparency management - Screen printing

If transparencies are required, please send the file including the areas you want to include. Any files with a colored background will be reproduced with the colored background included, and under no circumstances will it be possible to dispute the final result. You can modify or cancel your order while submitting the draft.

6. Limitations of screen printing

We recommend avoiding gradients, screens, fonts smaller than 20 pt., and light or thin characters. The minimum printable line width is 1 mm.

7. Maximum print size - Screen printing

Maximum size: A3 - 29.7x42cm

The maximum print size varies depending on the type of processing and product. You can see the maximum printable size for each item and print position directly during the order process.

Price differences may apply depending on the print size requested. The system will calculate them automatically.

8. Print file verification - Screen printing

Print files will be verified once they've been uploaded to the site. One of our operators will verify that:
  • the files provided are compatible with the required processes
  • the quality of the files is adequate to be played

Under no circumstances will content be checked. We encourage you to check your files before submitting them to avoid subsequent disputes. Furthermore, disputes related to file errors after the draft has been approved will not be accepted.

Once the sketch has been received, it will be possible to correct the position, dimensions and files free of charge if provided by the customer.

If the operator finds any critical issues or problems with the files, you will be contacted. If graphical changes are required, this can be done by prior arrangement with the operator, who will provide a fee in advance (if necessary to implement the desired changes).

9. Adapting the file to the type of screen printing product

With screen printing it is not possible to make any adaptation of the graphics based on the type of product.

If this becomes necessary, it will be mandatory to split the process and proceed with 2 or more separate processes, losing the quantity discount on the total number of pieces, since the process is effectively repeated entirely.

Example:
The customer is using the same process to create children's t-shirts ranging from sizes 1/2 years to 14 years. The size gap is very large in this case; with screen printing, the customer needs to set the file with a size that is the right compromise between all sizes and that allows for feasibility even in the smaller sizes.

10. Print color change

The platform currently does not allow for the ability to manage color changes independently during the quote process. If necessary, this option must be requested and agreed upon with Customer Support via chat or email.

Sometimes it may be necessary to adjust the color of your print to match the product's background color to make it more visible or to comply with your specifications. In this case, you can resolve the issue by making one or more color changes as needed.

Color changes require the payment of a supplement for each change made equal to €40.00 + VAT for each individual position.

Example:

Our Burgerprint logo is made up of 2 colors RED and GREY , let's say we need to print it on black and white t-shirts.

Printing on a white garment would be optimal, but on a black garment, the GRAY logo elements might be barely visible, if at all. In this case, a color change is possible. We're replacing the GRAY with WHITE only for the black part of the t-shirt, making everything more visible. In this case, we used a color change.
